Thank you LOVETALK for the Blogger Recognition Award nomination. I truly appreciate the honor you bestowed upon me.

I understand this honor comes with some rules, so I hope that I can do it justice.

How my blog got started:

I started a blog in 2010, my final year in college. A Professor suggested that we publish our fictional pieces to different mediums. I chose WordPress without knowing how anything worked. I just uploaded all my plays and essays all at once. Didn’t understand anything about titles or taglines. My title was my name, my tagline was BajanPlaywright. As the years passed, and I didn’t have anything else to add, I realized that I didn’t want to continue posting things that I had no interest in anymore. I wanted to write what I loved to read, and that happened to be erotica.

I changed my tagline to Erotica in 2012 when I took a workshop class in Novel Writing for Beginners. The class was 10 weeks, and I thought I would complete the novel in that time frame. Laughable, I know. The instructor also thought it was funny when I complained that my novel was not finished.

By the end of Fall 2015, I started to feel that I had not done what I wanted to accomplish. What was the purpose of my life? It was time to finish what I had started. With that determination pushing me, I wished for some direction. An email arrived in my inbox from WordPress University offering courses in how to use their platform effectively. Here was the answer to my prayers/wish. I began the first class on January 6, 2016, and the rest is history, because here I am being nominated for the Blogging Recognition Award.

Advice for new bloggers:

  1. Register for a WordPress class at the Blogging University
  2. Find blogs similar to your own, or bloggers who inspire you, and follow them
  3. Read and comment on other blogs
  4. Advise your followers when you will post to your blog (keep a schedule)
  5. Also advise them on what they can expect in terms of content

    • Thanks. Here are the rules:
      1. Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to. Do some digging if you must! Find those blogs. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you.

      2. Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you’ve nominated in the post.

      3. Make sure to also attach the award itself! (You can do this by right-clicking, saving, and uploading the image above).

      4. Comment on each blog and let them know you’ve nominated them. Provide a link to the award post you created.

      5. Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night (you can click the link below the award picture to take you to Eve Estelle’s site). That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing!

I had to do a little research to find the original post. 🙂
